How billing works
Usage-based, transparent, and metered in real time. No subscriptions, no per-seat fees, no surprise line items.
How does per-message billing work?+
You're billed per SMS segment delivered, at the rate of your compliance tier ($0.015 Standard, $0.02 Professional, $0.03 Regulated). A segment is up to 160 GSM-7 characters, or 70 characters if your message contains emoji/unicode. Longer messages are split into multiple segments and each segment counts as one billable message.
What counts as a billable message?+
Only successfully delivered outbound segments are billed. Carrier-rejected messages, invalid numbers, opt-outs (STOP replies), and messages blocked by our compliance checks are not charged. Inbound replies (HELP, STOP, customer responses) are free.
Does a campaign sent to 1,000 contacts cost 1,000 messages?+
Yes — if your message fits in a single segment. A 200-character message sent to 1,000 contacts uses 2 segments per recipient, billing as 2,000 messages. The campaign wizard shows your exact segment count and projected cost before you submit for review.
When am I charged?+
Usage is metered in real time as carriers confirm delivery. You're billed on the 1st of each month for the prior month's usage, on the card on file. There's no minimum spend, no per-seat fees, and no platform subscription — you only pay for messages sent.
How is my pricing tier determined?+
Your tier is set by your industry classification during onboarding. Regulated verticals (cannabis, firearms, gambling, adult, debt collection) are billed at $0.03 because they require enhanced 10DLC vetting, carrier-specific compliance review, and ongoing legal monitoring. Standard retail and service businesses are billed at $0.015.
Are there any other fees?+
One-time 10DLC brand registration ($4) and campaign registration ($10/campaign) are passed through from The Campaign Registry at cost. Carrier pass-through fees (~$0.002–$0.005 per message depending on carrier) are included in your per-message rate — no surprise line items.
Can I see usage before I'm billed?+
Yes. The Analytics dashboard shows real-time message counts, delivery rates, and accrued cost for the current billing period. You can set spend alerts in Settings → Billing to get notified when usage crosses a threshold.
What happens if a recipient never opens the offer?+
You're billed for the SMS send, not the offer view. Token generation, 2FA verification, and offer page hosting on ViewYourOffers.com are included in your per-message rate at no additional charge.
